More than 4 million kilometres on track in Dortmund

A project truly becomes visible in daily operation when it performs reliably on track. This is exactly what we are seeing in Dortmund: the new light rail vehicles for Dortmunder Stadtwerke have already reached more than 4 million kilometres in reliable service.

28 vehicles have now been successfully handed over. Further deliveries are ongoing, and the new vehicle fleet is expected to be complete by the middle of next year.

At the same time, the perspective goes further: the modernization of the 63 B-Wagen vehicles is also an important part of Dortmund’s fleet concept. New vehicles and the modernized existing fleet are being technically aligned. Step by step, this creates a common system basis for reliable, efficient and future-oriented light rail operations.

As system supplier for the electrical equipment, KIEPE supports the project with traction, control, onboard power supply and vehicle control technology, including installation and commissioning.
