Decarbonization: Energy storage converter for Schalke
The electrification of existing vehicle concepts is an important step towards decarbonization and noise reduction. For the MMT-S-800-BDE multi-purpose locomotive from Schalke Locomotives, Gelsenkirchen (D), KIEPE has supplied the proven ESU 103 energy storage converter. It is the connecting link to the charging batteries, which can now be charged externally.
This significantly increases the range of the multi-purpose locomotive, which is supplied by a third rail as standard. The two locomotives will be used by the transport company GVB Amsterdam. Delivery will take place by the end of 2024.
